More Personal Info
I’m a licensed psychologist and I offer therapy for individuals and couples. I completed my predoctoral internship training at the University of Texas at Austin, and my doctoral degree in clinical psychologist from Ohio University. In addition to my private/group practice, I hold a clinical position at the University of California, Berkeley.
My approach to therapy is integrative, but mostly psychodynamic, emotion-focused, relational, Internal Family System (IFS)-informed, and multiculturally-informed. In addition, I pull from multiple modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, to facilitate slowing down, stepping into the depth of your experience to heal and bring about lasting transformation.
I strive to provide clients a safe space to increase awareness, make meaning of their experience. I see myself as a fellow traveler as my clients discover new aspects of themselves, which can be a challenging but also rewarding process. The core of my work is in helping people connect with their fragmented parts of self and live more authentically and with purpose and meaning.
I have experiences working at a variety of clinical settings, including an inpatient psychiatric hospital, community mental health clinics, a substance use residential program, and university counseling centers. These experiences have equipped me with skills working with a broad range of presenting concerns, including severe mental illness and adjustment issues. My area of expertise includes trauma, attachment issues, relationship concerns, identity development, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.
Born and raised in China, I moved to the US as an adult. I have advanced knowledge working with immigrants, children of immigrants, and international students. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds. With cultural humility, my intention is to provide a safe and permissive space to explore all aspects of your intersecting identities, especially the parts that feel repressed, neglected or marginalized. I speak Mandarin and English.
