About our Presenter

Ann Steiner, Ph.D., MFT, CGP, AGPA-F is passionate about teaching her pioneering work about the Therapist’s Professional Will in Law and Ethics workshops nationally and internationally. 

 

She has published 20 articles about the Therapist’s Professional Will and been giving workshops on this topic for over 16 years.  Dr. Steiner is a former Associate Clinical Professor, UC Medical School, S.F.; Founding Member and Faculty, Psychotherapy Institute’s Group Therapy Training Program, Fellow and former American Group Psychotherapy Association Board Member and a founding member of their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force. She loves teaching and writing about the healing power of groups. The third edition of her book How to Create and Sustain Groups that Thrive: A Therapist’s Workbook and Planning Guide was recently released by Routledge.  She provides consultation and leads three online groups in the SF Bay Area. 

 

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:

1. Identify 3 common problems that can occur for a patient when a therapist cancels or is ill.

2. List 2 essential ingredients of a comprehensive Professional Will.

3. Identify 1 reason that disclosing the health information of the therapist can be helpful.

4. Describe 1 way for minimizing the trauma caused to patients when the therapist must cancel, transfer, or terminate earlier than expected.

5. Name 1 challenge/concern about cancelling sessions and retirement planning.

6. Restate 2 examples of information about yourself that you consistently self-disclose to patients.

Non Members  $150 

Student/agency fee  $90

CPA is cosponsoring with the Alameda County Psychological Association (ACPA). The California Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CPA maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.

Important Notice: Those who attend the workshop and complete the evaluation form will receive 6 continuing education credits. Please note that APA rules require that we only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop. Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time or leaving before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credits.   This workshop will not be recorded.
