Clinical Issues in Open Relationships

Friday, February 28, 2025

Via Zoom, 2CE, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

by MacKenzie Stuart, LMFT

Workshop Description

Whether we work in community mental health or in private practice, more and more clients in nontraditional relationships are crossing our paths. This training will help you begin to develop the knowledge you need to understand consensual nonmonogamy (CNM), including swinging, open relationships, polyamory, and relationship anarchy. Join MacKenzie Stuart, LMFT as she walks you through key concepts, clinical issues, case conceptualization, interventions, and tips for working with this diverse population.

MacKenzie Stuart, LMFT (she/they) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adults, couples, partners, and families. She specializes in nontraditional relationship structures, including polyamory and other forms of consensual nonmonogamy, as well as chronic depression and suicidality. Her other clinical interests include psychosis, psychopharmacology and drugs, LGBTQIA2-S and GNC/non-binary communities, kink and BDSM practices, and sex work. MacKenzie enjoys psychodynamic case conceptualization, the enneagram, biofeedback, narrative and solution-focused interventions, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) skills. She is a member of core faculty at The Wright Institute in Berkeley and leads a private practice in Alameda.
