by Melissa J. London, PhD
Workshop Description
This introductory workshop provides didactic and experiential instruction in the foundations, mechanisms, and culturally responsible practice of Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP). MBRP is an evidence-based approach to recovery for individuals with problematic substance use and addictive behaviors. Participants will learn how to integrate gold standard cognitive behavioral techniques for substance use issues with mindfulness to manage cravings, triggers, and emotional challenges, promoting recovery and overall well-being.
Melissa J. London, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy,
training, and consultation in private practice and through her affiliations as an Assistant Professor with the University of California-San Francisco and an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco. She has over a decade of experience working in specialty clinics for trauma and addiction at various Veterans Affairs hospitals, most recently as clinic coordinator of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Clinic at the San Francisco VA. She prefers evidence-based practice and strives to incorporate values of advocacy, empowerment, inclusion, liberation, and practicality in all her services.
