Biography

Dr. Leryn Messori is registered as a Psychological Assistant (PSB94023981) at the Wise Mind Institute under the supervision of Dr. Wes Pederson (PSY 26040). She earned her masters and doctorate (Psy.D.) degrees from Antioch University Santa Barbara, a bachelor degree in psychology from the University of New Mexico, and two bachelor degrees in English and Theater from Chapman University. Leryn moved to the bay area in 2015 to complete her pre-doctoral internship with Girls Inc. of Alameda County.

 

During her training, Leryn sought out diverse environments and populations to work with and has provided therapy in to individuals aged six to sixty, from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in school, residential, government, outpatient, and community settings. Leryn has been published in the National Judicial College Newsletter, is a Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor (CATC-V), and has given professional presentations throughout Santa Barbara, California and at the University of Washington, Tacoma.

 

Leryn’s therapeutic style is client-centered, focusing on fostering a relationship based on empathy, collaboration, and acceptance. She is passionate about navigating and negotiating the road to greater self-actualization with her clients since therapy is not always fluid. Leryn specializes in working with adolescents, families, and individuals in early adulthood, using interventions informed by cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, and existential-humanistic therapies.
