Biography
Murphy is a first-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California where she hopes to specialize in working with adolescents, young adults and their families. Her clinical and research interests include internalizing disorders, resilience, and help-seeking behaviors in adolescent and young adult populations with a particular focus on folks who identify as LGBTQ+ or questioning; and culturally adaptive and inclusive mental health assessments and interventions. Prior to starting her doctorate, Murphy worked in the San Francisco Unified School District with neurodivergent students specializing in crisis intervention and cultivating emotion regulation skills. A career changer, Murphy spent over 10 years working in marketing and communications at the intersection of art, design, and technology. She received her B.A. in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
