Alameda County Psychological Association: Continuing Education Call for Proposals

 

ACPA is committed to providing members inspiring continuing education opportunities to encourage professional development, support licensure renewal, and better serve those in our care and community.

 

We are implementing a “Call for Proposals” to engage our talented network to share their knowledge and expertise on an range topics including (but not limited to):

  • Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities
  • Law and Ethics in Professional Psychology
  • Subject-Matter Presentations
  • Suicidality (Assessment, Prevention and Training)
  • Supervision and Training

 

Anchored in our commitments to social justice, equity, and inclusion we strongly encourage submissions that are rooted in multicultural perspectives, focus on historically underrepresented populations, and incorporate such frameworks into the overall proposal when possible.

 

Note: Examples of historically underrepresented populations may include (but are not limited to):

  • Age (e.g., subject-matter presentation that focuses on underrepresented age group per the topic)
  • Communities of Color (e.g., Pan-African, Asian, and Latin Diasporas)
  • First Generation to College
  • Gender (e.g., subject-matter presentation that focuses on underrepresented gender per the topic)
  • Gender Identity (e.g., gender-non conforming, gender-expansive, and gender-queer)
  • LGBTQIA (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, and asexual)
  • Persons with Disabilities (e.g., person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity)
  • Religious Minorities
  • Survivors (e.g., various forms of trauma that may include exposure to violence, assault, and historical oppression)
  • Underrepresented Minorities (e.g., African-American, Latinx, Native American, Alaskan Native and Indigenous Populations)
  • Veterans (e.g., those who have served in the active military, naval, or air service)

 

Example Topics

Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities:

  • Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and the treatment of race-based trauma
  • Law and Ethics Professional Psychology
  • Ethical considerations for psychologists and the use of social media

Subject-Matter Presentation:

  • Best practices for providing counseling to transgender and gender non-confirming patients
  • Undocumented students and mental health
  • Trauma-informed care for children and families

Suicidality (Assessment, Prevention and Training):

  • Suicide Assessment for veterans and first responders
  • Supervision and Training:
  • Culturally Responsive Supervision Practices

     

    Delivery Choices: We aim to host all future CE’s on Saturdays between May, 2019 and Dec. 2019. CE’s will be held between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.

  • 1 Continuing Education Credits: Please provide course outline for one hour of presented materials
  • 2 Continuing Education Credits: Please provide course outline for two hours of presented materials
  • 3 Continuing Education Credits: Please provide course outline for three hours of presented materials

Compensation: Presentations will be compensated at a rate of $200/CE hour.

Primary Presenter Information (e.g., name, title, email etc.)

Suggested Presentation Title (15 words max)

 

Presentation Abstract (50 words max)

 

Syllabus/Course Outline (including time devoted to each topic):

 

Course Goals and Objectives (at least three for a 3-hour course); Objectives should be measurable

 

Provide 3-5 citations that support the content you will be teaching

 

Short biographic sketch of each presenter to be used on promotional flyer for course

 

Copy of each Presenter’s CV
