Education and Experience
In my doctoral studies at CSPP at Alliant International University, I pursued specialized training in health psychology and behavioral medicine, integrating physical and mental health. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the Chronic Pain Management Department at Kaiser San Franciscoand and enjoyed 10+ years as part of the multidisciplinary team there. My predoctoral internship was in primary care psychology at UCSF/SFGH Division of Psychosocial Medicine. My couples work is informed by Gottman research and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am bilingual (English/Japanese). I have specialized experience in issues of immigration, acculturation, and cross-generational and cross-cultural relationships.
More Personal Info
As a bilingual/bicultural Japanese American, I have a passion for multicultural counseling with Asians and Asian Americans. I am fluent in Japanese and specialize in providing linguistically and culturally attuned services for people of Japanese origin. Adjustment difficulties, cross-cultural relationships, and conflicts arising from intergenerational differences in goals, dreams, and expectations are areas of expertise. I strive to create an anti-bias space.
